Faridabad
Faridabad is the most populous in the state of Haryana, which is located in India, and it is included in the Delhi National Capital Area. It is one of the most important satellite cities around Delhi and is situated 284 kilometres to the south of Chandigarh, the capital of the state. The Yamuna River serves as the border between the eastern district and Uttar Pradesh. On the 24th of May 2016, the Government of India included it to the second list of Smart Cities Mission cities. According to a poll conducted by the City Mayors Foundation, Faridabad is the ninth fastest expanding city in the world and the third fastest growing city in India. According to the Delhi Regional Plan from 2001, Faridabad is included inside the Delhi Metropolitan Area (DMA).
Greater Faridabad is the name given to the section of Faridabad (Sec. 66 to Sec. 89) that has recently undergone residential and industrial development and is located between the Agra Canal and the Yamuna River. The region is undergoing development to become a self-sufficient sub-city with the addition of broad roadways, towering structures, shopping malls, educational institutions, and health and commercial facilities. Whereas Sectors 66 to 74 are considered to be Industrial Sectors, Sectors 75 to 89 are considered to be Residential Sectors.
The city of Faridabad in Haryana is a significant industrial centre. Faridabad and Gurgaon together provide fifty percent of Haryana's total income tax revenue. In the field of agriculture, Faridabad is well-known for its production of henna; nonetheless, the city's principal industrial outputs are comprised of tractors, motorbikes, switch gears, refrigerators, shoes, tyres and clothes.
In 2018, the World Health Organization ranked Faridabad as the second most polluted city in the world after Beijing. According to the Swachh Survekshan Survey conducted in India in 2020, Faridabad was placed tenth on the list of the country's top ten dirtiest cities.
The Ministry of Urban Development, which is in charge of implementing the flagship Smart Cities Initiative for the Government of India, has chosen Faridabad as one of the one hundred Indian towns that will be converted into smart cities.
