Ashish Kaul (born June 1, 1971) is an Indian media veteran, researcher, branding expert, and author. He is recognized for his significant contributions to various sectors, including media and branding, as well as his strong advocacy for social justice, particularly concerning issues related to Kashmir and gender equality.[1][2]
Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
Ashish Kaul was born on June 1, 1971, in Jammu, India, to Smt Pushpa Kaul and Sri Rattan Lal Kaul. He completed his secondary education at St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School in Baramulla, Kashmir. Kaul pursued higher education at several prestigious institutions. He earned a PhD in Mass Communications from Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University and an MBA in Marketing Management as well as an MA in Sociology from Chaudhary Charan Singh University.
He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Kurukshetra University and a Graduate Diploma in Hotel Management from IHM Panipat, specializing in Marketing and Sales. Additionally, Kaul obtained diplomas in Advertising and Production from Welingkar’s Institute of Management Development & Research and completed a Management Development Programme at the Indian Institute of Management. He has also received training in Edward de Bono’s "Six Thinking Hats" and "Lateral Thinking" courses.[3]
Career[edit | edit source]
Ashish Kaul has had a distinguished career across various leadership roles in the media and entertainment industry. He has served as the Group Vice President of Zee & Essel Group, where he was instrumental in shaping the company's media strategy. He then took on the role of Business Head for the Hinduja Group's content business, followed by his position as Business Head & Country Manager at Bajaj Herbals. Kaul also served as the CEO of both the Association of Motion Pictures & TV Programme Producers Association and Prakash Jha Productions. Currently, he holds the position of Chief Marketing Officer at Hero Realty (Hero Enterprises Ltd.) and is the Chief Creative Officer and Founder of Folklore Entertainment, where he leads efforts in research-based creative content creation.[4]
Advocacy and Recognition[edit | edit source]
Throughout his career, Kaul has been an active advocate for social causes, particularly for Kashmir, Kashmiri Pandits, and the empowerment of women both in and outside Kashmir. He has used various platforms and media to raise awareness about these issues, contributing articles and columns to leading national and regional newspapers and speaking at national forums.
